The Ringneck Classic Board of Directors presented Jordan Martincich, Development Officer, Pheasants Forever/Quail Forever with a check for $ 25,000 at the 2016 Classic held in Oakley. With Jordan, from left to right, are board members Jerry Robben, Kellie Day, Raelene Keller, Scott Anderson and Jim Millensifer.  The Habitat Fund Matching Grant challenge was issued to the NW Kansas PF Chapters  on July 6, 2016.

Kansas State Habitat Fund Matching Grant

The Kansas Governor’s Ringneck Classic (Classic) and the Northwest Kansas Conservation Foundation(NWKCF), is presenting Pheasants Forever (PF) chapters in Northwest Kansas with a unique opportunity.  Through November 1st, 2016, every dollar a chapter contributes to the Kansas State Habitat Fund over
their existing commitment, the NWKCF will match up to a total of $ 25,000. The grant will be presented to PF at the 2016 Classic hosted in Oakley November 17th – 20th.

“The Kansas Ringneck Classic, through its Northwest Kansas Conversation Foundation, is excited to build upon our partnership with Pheasants Forever. The matching grant will ensure we continue working towards our mission of supporting conservation efforts while engaging a new generation of hunters.” Jim Millensifer, Kansas Governor’s Ringneck Classic.  The $ 50,000 generated by this challenge grant will support Kansas State Habitat Fund projects in Northwest Kansas.

  • More specifically, it will provide support for these important habitat and youth outreach programs:
  • Habitat Management – Farm Bill Wildlife Biologists; Servicing Landowners across Northwest Kansas.
  • Pheasant Initiative – Specific pheasant management initiatives on public and private acres surrounding Glen Elder & Norton Wildlife Management Areas.
  • Habitat Protection – Kansas Permanent Habitat Fund; Building the public land base and protecting habitat permanently across Kansas.
  • Youth Engagement – Youth Pollinator Partnership; Support to over 700 grassroots chapters and their partners across the country to engage youth, families and communities in establishing pollinator habitat projects. Provides funding for pollinator seed, PF/QF shirts and materials.
  • Mentored Hunts and Shooting Sports – Support for mentored hunts and shooting clinics.
